CONTACTS >> CHAIR-ELECT
David Stevens has been involved with the American Chemical Society from the time when he first joined and became president of his undergraduate ACS-Student Affiliates University of Richmond Chapter. Since then David has held numerous leadership positions in both the ACS-Younger Chemists Committee and the ACS-Women Chemists Committee of East Central Illinois and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Having recently moved to New Haven, due to his PhD advisor moving to Yale, David has participated in numerous ACS New Haven Local section events and meetings and is looking forward to serving the New Haven section with his diverse experiences from other chapters and sections. David graduated with his B.S. in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Richmond and recently transferred with his PhD advisor to complete his degree in Chemistry at Yale. David’s research is focused on computational efforts to understand the both the dynamics and mechanisms of enzymes and RNA, from the dynamics of the HIV-1 protease enzyme to the mechanistic role of a transient metal in the active site of DNA Polymerase. Outside of research, David is currently involved with the Yale Graduate Consulting Club and the Yale Chemistry Department Climate and Diversity Committee. As the Chair Elect David would like to work on building the local chemists community by bringing more interactions between local industry and the local universities.
