Welcome to the American Chemical Society New Haven Section (ACS NHV), a group of ACS members enthusiastic about the knowledge of chemistry and passionate in volunteering for the New Haven county in Connecticut for over 112 years! In case you are not aware, as long as you have a genuine interest in chemistry, you can become an ACS community associate member.
Please join us for another new year with exciting new programs and activities! In the “Events” category, please explore our regular speaker series for a range of intriguing topics. Or attend our premier event of the year on April 26th - the 9th Student Research Symposium (SRS) to be hosted at Yale University, open to the students and the public free of charge. The symposium offers a welcoming environment for undergraduate and graduate students to practice their presentation skills and to engage in professional development activities. You can help us make a difference by volunteering for this event and/or becoming a sponsor of the event.
Our section also proudly supports K-12 education and advocates for STEM knowledge disseminated to the general public through grants, awards, events, and volunteering (e.g., Chemistry Olympiad, Chemists Celebrating Earth Week, National Chemistry Week, New Haven Science Fair, Connecticut Invention Convention, and more!). We want to thank our volunteers and sponsors for their efforts to make these events happen!
We are also pleased to announce our latest initiative in supporting young chemists: the section is currently working on forming the New Haven Local Section’s Younger Chemists Committee (NHYCC) for ACS-affiliated students and professionals who are under the age of 40 or within the first seven years in their profession. Your participation and help will be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
CHONG “Q” QIU
