The New Haven Science Fair Program began in 1995 with seven pilot schools. To date, it engages over 8,000 students across 43 schools, supported by more than 160 volunteers serving as mentors and judges. The program is committed to enhancing education quality, particularly in science and math, for New Haven Public Schools students from Pre-K through Grade 12.
Want to Mentor or Judge?
Mentor (February–May 2026) **immediate placement**:
Join a local classroom approximately once per week and guide elementary and middle school students as they develop their science projects.

Judge (June 4, 2026, 9am-1pm):
Evaluate student projects at the citywide Science Fair and provide encouraging, constructive feedback.
Last year, a box lunch was provided at the end. Additionally, free parking was available at a nearby lot and paid parking was reinbursed by treasurer. More information to come for NHSF 2026!
